Diving into Denver Colorado

My daughter, a doctor in residence at St Joseph’s hospital on York Street got my family here this week. Another pleasure of downsizing my staff at the company by turning 65 now near four years ago is an ability to skip work for a week when a daughter’s schedule beckons.

This is the first thanksgiving away from the east coast in 68 years, most of which I still remember family time and the Polish American feasts. The west is big sky, and quite different. Less cluttered.

For far too long, most of that work time spent in billable tasks — as opposed to family time-was spent finishing a tailspin of contracts with giants like Merck bp and WalgreensBoots Alliance — and then salvaging the competitive principles found in those assignments into my career summary manifesto for www.Rodin books.com. It was worth the 3.6 years of book effort to mark the transition. But it was not always fulfilling and pleasant. Writing books entails a prison sentence, quite unlike a blog jounal entry like this.

Now Denver represents a pleasant departure from those four decades dominated by staff, business functions and money making.

1. Are any of you reading this in the same boat of merging new book retirement with retirement from corporate life?

This enables me to enjoy how pleasant people are at meal time in Denver. From superb Italian food at Spice and Sauce to the inside splendor at the Denver Botanical Gardens, time here is without deadlines or staff assignments. And it is pleasant. It is footloose, whitmanesque, magnificent.

Early this morning, by an Ever Brite recording, I even got to enjoy the weekly class I am taking with over a hundred at Dr Dave Bell’s London lectures on psychoanalysis. This return to the greatness in the Freudian approach adds additional humility and glitter to this week of event over thought, chance over personal drive.

Why am I recording this for Medium? Not sure why? That is how freedom unfolds, right?
